Today I bring you another exciting episode of “Heard from the Howes.”

Avery is growing and changing her routine so fast that I find myself constantly scouring the internet to make sure she’s eating enough. This past week she’s been sleeping longer intervals and has cut down to five feedings a day, so I was online once again looking for answers on whether she was getting enough nourishment.

So I started babbling to Brian in efforts to figure out if we were doing the right things…

Libby: “Well this website says 2.5 ounces per each pound the baby weighs in a 24 hour period, which is ok because she’s about 12 pounds and she does take 6 ounces bottles when she eats and eats five times a day…but this guideline is for formula and she’s still eating breastmilk…”

Brian: (cutting Libby off in mild frustration) Libby we just have to keep feeding her when she’s hungry and letting her eat until she’s full. We can worry about this stuff if she gets sick and skinny but right now she’s fat and happy!

Heard from the Howes…again (Brian keeps saying stuff that makes me laugh…I can’t help it!)

Discussing the agony that will soon overcome him once Bootcamp starts tomorrow. Background: He recently detailed info from his bootcamp instructor on how many calories, grams of fat, protein, etc, he should consume daily to meet his goal weight during the program.

Libby: You should go to the gym on the days you don’t have bootcamp. I know you, you’ll get addicted to exercise and want to work out every day.

Brian: Yeah right. Do you have any idea how sore I’ll be? My back, my bad knee?

Libby: Good thing I just bought a big bottle of ibuprofen…that will really come in handy.

Brian: Pause, thinking. I wonder how many calories are in ibuprofen.

Monday morning, over coffee and spitup, while discussing birth control

Brian: Well we need to get that birth control thing figured out. I love Avery, but I’m not ready for Avery 2.0.

I think this might become a new category, considering how many times Brian says something that makes me laugh to the point of tears (or vice versa).

Brian: While browsing through baby clothes in Marshalls “This is pretty cute.”

Libby: “Yeah, it is. What size is it?”

Brian: “Nine medium”

Long Pause. Libby looks confused

Libby: “You mean nine months?”

Long pause.

Both: incessant laughter

Obviously Brian needs a little more practice before his clothes shopping expertise extends to his daughter
