…so I guess I should be happy that I don’t have a car to tempt me to leave my cozy house!
It’s true, the closest I’ve gotten to the outdoors since Sunday afternoon is the sliding glass door in my kitchen, to let the dog out. Well that’s not entirely true, I did get the mail yesterday. Don’t worry, I’m far from bored. In fact, I am keeping myself so busy and still not done with everything I’d like to do, that I wonder how on earth I would survive if I did have a job.
The biggest challenge I’ve had since last week is regaining access to my work laptop to retrieve some important files from it before “closing out.” What is closing out you ask? Well, the pharma gods giveth, and the pharma gods taketh away…they already took my car (back), and Saturday morning they come for my tablet, docking station, wireless router, 3-in-1 printer/fax machine/scanner…and all the accessories that come with them. Funny how even though these items were never “mine” daily use of them led me to take them for granted. Trust me, I don’t take them for granted anymore. Anyways, I’ve been postponing the closeout since I couldn’t log into my machine to retrieve some of my files, but I’m good to go now so I’m much less stressed about that!
In other news, I have been looking for jobs and applied for a few but haven’t heard anything yet. In the meantime, I’m realizing with more certainty what we already believed to be true: being laid off right now is a huge blessing in disguise. I am sooooo glad to be home with Avery for a little longer but certainly couldn’t afford to do so without unemployment. Oddly enough, I thought I’d go a little crazy at home with no car. Well, so far so good. Check in with me in a week; I may feel differently.
So for now I will keep my days full with exercise on demand, job hunting, and loving on Avery every chance I get. And finding new recipes for my crock pot. And watching reruns of the Cosby Show on myTV4 while I nurse. And yes, Brian, I promise to take down the Christmas decorations! (Maybe not by Saturday, but definitely by Tuesday.)
