- I think I’m getting sick. The swollen glands feeling started yesterday, now they feel completely huge and are accompanied by chills, exhaustion and a slammin’ headache.
- I am getting mixed answers online on whether it’s ok to take airborne or zicam. This brings back memories. In February I started to feel a cold coming on and my OB wouldn’t let me take Airborne since I was in the first trimester. Fast forward one week: I ended up stranded in Texas without my husband but with bronchitis and walking pnuemonia. AWESOME.
- Avery and I are having a busy week, starting to get back to normal life a bit. Went to Price Chopper for a full shopping trip today and decided to try the babybjorn so I could actually put stuff in the cart. Worked out pretty well.
- There are a lot of, um, “elderly” people at Price Chopper in the middle of the afternoon.
- Elderly people stop and talk to you when you have a babybjorn on (with a baby in it). Either that or they just stare at you, or watch you when you walk away, or tell their spouse to “look at the baby” when you pass them but are still within earshot.
- Have I mentioned lately that Avery is pretty much sleeping through the night now? I can’t remember the last time she woke up before 5. 6 is the norm. Last night she set a new record. She ate at 9:45pm and woke up at 7.
- I told my mother in law the news. She texted back “She is so good. You should have another one.” I laughed. Brian responded with “We already have a perfect one, why ruin it?”
- Taking Avery to the pediatrician tomorrow. According to my rough calculations, she’s in the 90th percentile for height and weight. We’ll see tomorrow.
- I hate when they give her shots. Makes me want to cry. She actually does.
- How did we, two normal sized people have such a giant baby? And while we’re on that topic, how did I have such a white baby? She doesn’t even look like my child! I guess it’s only fair. My mom (she’s as white as they come) used to have people in the store ask her where she adopted us from. So now at least when she’s with Avery they’ll look like they belong. And Brian too. I’ll just look like the nanny or something.

Lib…you crack me up. We get a lot of the “elderly” people routine too. I think it actually makes their day when they see little ones out and about. Reminds them of their youth. And it makes me feel good that people take the time to notice our kiddos…except when they are stopping you to tell you that they think your child must be hungry because he or she is crying loud enough for someone to hear them on the other side of the store (even though they can see clearly enough by looking at them that they haven’t missed a meal)! Oh…I also love it when people walk by me when I’m out with the kids and say “Wow, you sure have your hands full!” Sometimes I wonder if they are paying me a compliment…or criticism.
The babybjorn…I personally think is a must have for every new mommy. I seriously don’t leave home without it.
Hope you start feeling better before whatever you have gets any worse. Only thing I can say is drink lots of water Lib…lots and lots!!! You can’t afford to be down and out with little Avery here now!
Can’t wait to hear Avery’s stats tomorrow after her appointment!
Avery has your hair and your eyes (at least all 30 seconds I got to see them). But she’s definitely Brian… Us “elderly” people who talk to you in the grocery store in general LOVE babies. And sometimes when they talk to you, it’s to make a statement that will (occasionally) calm a tough situation…try to bring a brief smile to the new mom. We don’t usually mean to be rude….
Please ask Avery to teach Eliana to sleep at night. I’m lucky to get three hours between feedings. For now, I’m trying to be patient w/ Eliana…since she’s been through so much. But my patience will soon be running out (ha ha).
Congrats on the sleeping through the night thing. It can be a beast.
Hope you feel better soon.
Did I miss something? You topic is potpourri but was it mentioned hehe! I will be that elderly person who talks to mothers in the store.babies are just so precious I can’t help it. I hope you are feeling better soon.

My cousin’s wife just popped out a 9 lb 6oz girl. Maybe it’s a new trend?
Hey Lib,
Around here – Tuesdays are “senior citizen discount days”. They come out of the woodwork – even bus loads from the sr. care homes. Check it out. You might want to start shopping on Mondays!!!

Lib:
One more thing. Is it possible Avery is going to take after her Uncle Dave rather than her Daddy?
