We were chatting with Chad and Leah at the hospital today (by the way, Eliana is beautiful, charming, and HEALING quickly…keep praying for her!) and we ended up talking about our blogs. Chad said that he was so glad that he has, in his blog, a journal of this journey with Eliana; something she can look back and read someday, something for their family to keep as their own little “Hall of Faith” and a testament to how good God has been to them.
Brian and I agreed, having blogged more ourselves since little Avery joined the fam, that it was a new incentive to blogging. We’ve been at it a few years now…rewind to when Brian told me I should start a blog, and he had to show me examples online to tell me what one was. To me it was just a funny sound…BLOG.
Anyways, I gave in (as I often do) and originally we just used it as a place to put up pictures and keep in touch with friends that were far away. This was back in 06, when we actually would both write on the same blog, before Brian lost interest and I took over, before we got the new site, and before Brian abandoned me for his own blog.
Somewhere along the way it became a hobby, and a little bit of therapy for me. I’ve always liked writing and I would look forward to spending a few minutes just getting things out there.
And then it started to consume me like some sort of obsession. Everything that happened, you know, in REAL life, would make me think of something I should blog. Of course by the time I’d sit down at the computer the thought was usually long gone (enter Twitter, thank God for mobile microblogging), but once in a while they made it to our little corner of cyberspace.
And then most recently, the motivation changed. I love that our little girl will be able to read about our journey, from pregnancy to birth and beyond. And I love having a way to look back on pretty much everything in life…wins, losses, successes and failures.
So that’s why iBlog. How about u?

I do it more for me than for others. I want to look back and see when my flowers started coming up last year and record the thoughts I get about the Word.
If people go and read my blog and maybe take a minute to make a comment, that is the decorative icing on my cake!
I also have those moments when I am experiencing something and think about the words I will use to write a post! “Let’s see, should I write this in a humorous fashion or from a third person point of view…” tee hee!
Reading your blog is fun. You have inspired me. Keep writing!
