Since the end of the road is near, I’ll throw these out there. I cannot wait until I am able to:
- Paint my toenails
- Wear my wedding rings
- Bend down and pick things up
- Put on my socks/shoes/pants/underwear/new maternity SPANX (which I love) without falling over
- Go to work AND do something productive or even just enjoyable in the evening
- Sit for more than half an hour without starting to wiggle due to extreme discomfort
- Eat Sushi
- Eat a turkey sandwich
- Walk, not waddle
- Wear stilettos!
And last but certainly not least:
- HoldĀ our baby girl

I had to comment on these…
Paint my toenails- Paint them sitting on your side, right away- paint them without having severe down-unda pain- a week
Wear my wedding rings- Eee- took me 2 months…and they’ve been stuck on my finger ever since
Bend down and pick things up- It’s a wonderful feeling to just grab the shampoo bottle that fell on the floor during your first shower
Put on my socks/shoes/pants/underwear/new maternity SPANX (which I love) without falling over- Well, you also get to put a large ice pack in your panties the first couple days- at least you won’t fall over, however.
Go to work AND do something productive or even just enjoyable in the evening- HAHAHAHAHA
Sit for more than half an hour without starting to wiggle due to extreme discomfort- Oh, you plan to just sit and relax for a half hour? Good one.
Eat Sushi- Not when you’re breastfeeding!
Eat a turkey sandwich- Have a freaking turkey sandwich now!
Walk, not waddle- Again- that ice pack…
Wear stilettos! Hello, do you have bodyguards that help you when you fall? Think Katie Holmes and Brittany Spears.
And last but certainly not least:
Hold our baby girl- why it’s aallll worth it.
Splurge – get a pedicure and pick ANY color you want. When your feet are up in a few weeks, they’ll be one more thing you can concentrate on. But most of all, look forward to the last one. It beats them all…
Soon you’ll forget all about the first half of that list when you hold one of the precious gifts from God! I can’t sympathize with the whole pianting of toenails stuff, but the bending over comfortably sure is something I forgot about when Jesse had Ella… I gained more weight than my wife though proportionately her belly may have looked bigger, she lost it a few hours after being in labor and delivering our first… 4 years later I still have mine!
Kelly – points well taken. I was so focused on the “no more ginormous belly” part, I forgot about the “real live human being I’m responsible for” part. Oops.
Marti – I think I might do that! Brian and I will have to go for his & hers pedicures
Patrick – Ha! Too funny. Brian came home the other day asking if we could eat really healthy for the next few weeks. Instead he agreed to eat whatever I want until the baby comes and then focus on good health later! So much better to do it together right?
