True love

August 9, 2008

Brian and I have a super small backyard and although I put some serious effort into it last year, that yard has NO grass at all. It does however get a grass-looking cover of weeds this time of year. The thing is, we only need to cut them down once or twice a season, so we don’t even own a lawnmower. I had been telling Brian all week I wanted him to get rid of the weeds/grass before tonight since we’re hoping to get outside with some friends and enjoy our firepit (something else that only gets used once or twice a year).

The plan was to ask the neighbor to borrow his lawnmower, but when Brian went to ask him this afternoon, he wasn’t home. Sensing my subtle disappointment (I’m 7 and a half months pregnant…maybe it wasn’t so subtle), Brian went out with a pair of kitchen scissors and started to “cut the grass” in the most literal sense of the phrase! It was perhaps the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. And probably the sweetest.

That’s true love if I’ve ever seen it!

  2. haha. from the looks of the grass last night, he didn’t get very far. valiant effort, I must say.

  3. Sue – that’s what it’s all about, right?!

Steve – you should have seen it before he cut the really long weeds!
